Quinnimont, West Virginia --
Imagine, if you will, that you are traveling west on a C&O
passenger train, Local #13 sometime in the fall of 1947... In
moments more buildings, including a water tank, are visible, and
the train comes to a stop, which the conductor has announced to
be "Quinnimont". After a brief stop the train moves
out again, but never really gains any speed before it stops again
at "Prince". Again a short stop, a leisurely departure,
and a trip through an unexpected tunnel before you are again cruising
the banks of the rushing river. You probably don't realize it,
but you've just passed through two of the most interesting locations
in the entire New River Gorge.
